ALBUM POSTER 2ND DRAFT
Here is my second draft of my album poster. As you can see, many changes where made from my first draft as I started to include various bits and pieces to create a more conventional poster. The use of adding such apps as Spotify and Apple iTunes gave the product more realism and that you could actually download the album on the set date (which is also another convention I added to my product).
This is also when I decided my name for the artist. I was first of all trying to think of a unique and create name for a superstar artist, however I started to think about my genre and the artists who fit in it. People like Alex Turner, Miles Kane, Jake Bugg and Liam Gallagher all use their real names. This made me realise that I do not need an unorthodox name for my artist as it is not a true convention to my genre, so I finally resulted on using Callum Rudd.
Since I was just using an original name, I wanted to create a simple but effective logo for the Callum Rudd brand. I took an idea from Catfish and the Bottlemen where they had simple lines on either side of their font. I also looked at other artist logo types like Jake Bugg, and his is just simply his name and then half a CD above.
Taking the lines from Catfish and using a similar font to Jake Bugg gave me this idea above. I believe it is simple but effective to the fact that looking at the name, you can instantly categorise which genre it is meant to be a part of.
On this image of Callum, you can see that I used the lighten effect but later realised it didn't benefit the poster as it was showing less of the artist than if I put no effect on. I therefore started to use different effects before coming to a conclusion.
